1. What exactly is freeze-dried food?
Freeze-drying (lyophilization) removes 98% of the water content from food while it is frozen. Unlike dehydrating, this process preserves the flavor, color, and 97% of the nutrients. The result is a lightweight, crunchy, and shelf-stable product.
2. How long does the food last?
- Unopened: If stored in a cool, dry place, our vacuum-sealed pouches can last anywhere from 10 to 25 years (depending on the specific item).
- Opened: Once you open the pouch, the food will begin to absorb moisture from the air. We recommend consuming it within 7–10 days or transferring it to a strictly airtight glass jar.
3. How do I prepare the food?
- Fruit & Candy: Eat these straight from the bag as a crunchy snack! No water is needed.
- Vegetables & Meals: You can eat them dry, or rehydrate them by adding warm water. Add water slowly until the food reaches its original consistency (usually about 5–10 minutes).
4. Do you use preservatives or added sugar?
No. One of the best things about our process is that the lack of moisture acts as the preservative. Most of our fruits and vegetables have zero added ingredients—just 100% natural food.
5. Why is freeze-dried food more expensive than fresh food?
It takes about 10 pounds of fresh produce to make 1 pound of freeze-dried produce. You are getting a highly concentrated, nutrient-dense product that is light to carry and won’t spoil in your pantry.
6. Where do you deliver in Cuenca?
We offer delivery throughout the Cuenca metropolitan area, including Challuabamba, Baños, and San Joaquín.
- Delivery Days: Tuesday and Friday
- Pickup: We also offer a free pickup point at [Insert Neighborhood/Address].
7. Do you ship outside of Cuenca?
Yes! We ship nationwide across Ecuador via Raúl Express Agency . Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on the weight of your order.
8. My fruit arrived a bit powdery. Is this normal?
Because freeze-dried food is very brittle, some friction during delivery can create a small amount of “fruit dust” at the bottom of the bag. This is perfectly safe to eat—it’s great as a topping for yogurt, smoothies, or oatmeal!
9. Can I place a bulk order for emergency storage?
Absolutely. We offer bulk discounts for “pantry stocking” or emergency preparedness kits. Please contact us via [Email/WhatsApp] for a custom quote.
